First Ecovillage Gets Started

In the UK a small group of families has been accepted to start building a mini ecovillage. The group will consist of nine families. These are going to build their house from mud, timber and straw bale in the Welsh village. This small ecovillage will be called Lammas and is planned to cover a 74 acre site of woodland and pasture. The water will be collect from rooftop rainwater and springs.

Electricity would come from a water turbine system that is a renewable energy. The families are going to depend on bio gas captured from organic waste and wormeries and compost toilets. Their low-impact life style is furthermore supported by the way they use transport. The Lammas will create fuel from coppiced willow and elephant grass grown in their mini village.
To supplement their income village ,members will be working one day a week. They will be dependent on income from the production of vegetables, the sale of compost worms,flax-made linen shawls and fruits marketed in the local shops and in community itself.
Purlin now the Lammas are the first community that has obtained official approval from UK local authorities, and to draw up the plans that received approval it took the families five months.

Virent Energy and Shell are Planning to Research New Biofuels

Virent Energy Systems and Shell collaborate for one year on the research, to suggest converting plant sugars into gasoline, giving it a clear preference over ethanol.Shell say no to ethanol, and Virent aim to develop will be able to run in existing vehicles without the need to modify their engines.
Using catalysts biomass derived feed stocks Virent want to transform plants sugars into hydrocarbon molecules. These molecules carry better fuel efficiency because have more elevated energy content than ethanol.Required sugars are: switch grass, sugarcane pulp, wheat straw and corn stovers
This technology would be improved upon to ensure large degree commercial production.Virent and Shell gave no targets for achieving commercial production of the new fuel and did not say the amount they are investing in the project.

Captue CO2 Molecules Directly From Open Air

Everyone have a opinion and discuss about global warming, but these not help things very much,so we need to reduce urgent carbon emissions.
The Atmospheric Carbon Capture Systems (ACCESS) Air-Capture System, developed by Global Research Technologies in Tucson, Ariz., holds sheets of material capable of capturing CO2 molecules directly from open air. The system not only captures atmosphere CO2, but it also stores it for a considerable amount of time. To remove the molecules, the sheets are sprayed with a chemical solution that bonds to the carbon dioxide. The solution is then drained off to a separation unit, where the CO2 is isolated as pure gas through electro-dialysis.
A design goal was to avoid using toxic or corrosive chemicals that would require special handling, so ordinary PVC pipe is used to transfer the solution back to a collection unit so that it can be recycled.

The Access machine aims to capture atmospheric carbon, but storing it and re-using it for long term purposes, will always be difficult. Instead of all this, maybe one would do just fine to plant a few trees and reduce on the carbon emissions.

In a trial of the technology about 30 households will participate which uses a combination of heat and power to generate electricity and simultaneously heat a home using natural gas. This machine passes gas through a fuel cell in a chemical process that creates heat and electricity simultaneously,in conclusion this machine can turns your home into a micro generator of electricity.
this invention will reduce the greenhouse gases emitted from the conventional process of burning fossil fuels but is still dependent on fossil fuel.
The price of this machine will be between $5000 and $6000.This gadget encouraging to see innovation occurring in home heating.

Solar Energy at $1/Watt From 1366 Technologies

I was very happy wen i hear that a company like 1366 Technologies delivering solar energy at $1/Watt and to see the solid and simple technology behind this promise.
This company is working on improving multi-crystalline silicon solar panels.1366 Technologies
claim to have found ways to make them about as efficient as single-crystal silicon solar cells, which are more efficient but also more expensive, without losing the cost benefits. Three different innovations allowed them to produce their prototype 27% more efficient than conventional multi-crystalline silicon solar cells, bringing its total efficiency to 19.5%, about the same as single-crystal silicon solar cells.

First innovation is to add texture to the surface of the cells that allows the silicon to absorb more light, then the second innovation is that the silver wires harvest electrical current generated by the silicon, and the last:a set of wide, flat wires used to collect current from the thin silver wires.
It is very good invention.

How To Produce Biodiesel In Six Seconds !

Experts say about this process that could free the United States of its dependence on petroleum diesel fuel. This process started with Augsburg College Senior Brian Krohn who found out there is a new way to produce the much needed fuel.
Brian, his Augsburg professors and scientists from Anoka-based SarTec Corporation have develop a process that scientists say has the potential to revolutionize the fuel industry.
This research it's called Mcgyan Process, puts alcohol and a variety of waste oils through a high-temperature, high pressure reactor. Inside, the oils from things like coconuts ,soybeans, even algae react with a catalyst, creating 100-percent renewable biodiesel fuel.

This process it's really fast clean and efficient, can produce biodiesel in under six seconds. The Mcgyan process is being used to heat the building and run the company's trucks.
The experiment who start in Brian's lab has transformed into miracle when he collaborate with scientist and Augsburg professors.I wish to this young chimist and to his team ,good luck!

The Biggest Solar Power Plants in California

Governor Schwarzenegger have big ideas for California with this solar power plants.Actually the biggest solar power plants from US is a 80-megawatt installation Cleantech America, but,
Southern California Edison wants to build a 250-megawatt farm with a twist: It will be distributed among many commercial rooftops, starting with southern California's Inland Empire, San Bernardino and Riverside counties.
They starting in August and are planning to install 1 megawatt per week. When the project is finished it will take up 65,000,000 square feet of roofs that would otherwise be unused and produce enough clean energy to supply about 162,000 homes.
This is a best idea,as long as we must endure big box stores they might as well do something useful. They (solar panels) have the added benefit of actually shading the roof as well.

Make Hydrogen From Algae

Researchers demonstrate that a algae named Chlamydomonas reinhardtii in a specific environment can produce hydrogen. In a normal mode these bacterias produce oxygen but the scientists modified their genes, added copper to block the oxygen production, so the cells’ photosynthesis begins to synthesize hydrogenase and produces hydrogen. To produce Hydrogen, this algae need light.
In this video you can see how algae produce hydrogen:

How To Convert Any Liquid Fuel Into Hydrogen

Soon we can make fuel in our backyards and convert our cars to run on water.
The company Innovatek has a Microreactor which converts almost any liquid fuel ranging from biodiesel ,gasoline,or even the cooking oil you use in your kitchen everyday to hydrogen.
Every microreactor can produce up to 160 gallons of hydrogen every minute by combined these modular microreactor’s to make one big hydrogen producing plant. The microreactor works by combining one part of hydrocarbon and one part of water with a catalytic reactor.

Cars manufacturers can produce more fuel celled which till now were facing the non availability of hydrogen fuel stations and also the problem of storing hydrogen under very high pressure in their fuel tanks.
Now we can producing hydrogen , in our very own cars will now become possible and with it the hopes of a cleaner, a healthier and greener environment thanks to InnovaGen fuel processor.

Green House-First Solar Hydrogen House !

Mike Strizk have build a house whose utility bill is zero !,thanks to some creative thinking using renewable energy technologies. To have enough electricity even on the cloudiest days he used a hydrogen fuel cel,an electrolyzer to power his energy-efficient home, solar panels and a hydrogen fuel cell.
To power his fuel-cell car in his house also creates hydrogen in an electrolyzer.
His 3,500 square foot house is located in central New Jersey on 12 acres, with amenities you’d see in any 21st century home, like a hot tub and big screen TV.
The electricity produced from the solar panels goes to an electrolyzer, which interestingly then breaks down a tank of water into oxygen and hydrogen.
The hydrogen is stored in 10 1,000-gallon propane tanks and the oxygen being released into the atmosphere.
When is a cloudy day, to generate electricity the hydrogen is piped to an air-conditioner-sized fuel cell .It is a very nice home and 100% green house.

A New Production Technology of Bioethanol

Most popular substitutes for the conventional petroleum based fuel is Bioethanol. This have a lots of advantages.Bioethanol are produced from energy crops like cereals, sugar beet and maize, from renewable sources,it can be produced in any place of the entire planet.Bioethanol is far less toxic than fossil fuels being biodegradable.
Bioethanol is produced by the hydrolysis and sugar fermentation processes that require hemicelluloses to produce sucrose sugar that is fermented into ethanol and diluted sulphuric acid or enzymes to break the cellulose.

The General Research Institute has make a new production technology of bioethanol that is safer and more environment friendly. The researchers from Japan have create a “super yeast” which is sake yeast genetically modified with koji mold genes. Instead of using chemical agents, the new method pretreats plants for fermentation with water at subcritical region or high-temperature and high-pressure water.
In a subcritical region, water becomes acidic but as temperature and pressure declines, water retains its neutral state.Researchers confirmed in the experiment that chaff and paddy straw can be used to produce ethanol.

From Carbon Dioxide You Can Make Gasoline !

Many questions like this i heard :Can make gasoline from dioxide carbon?,but, yes, this article confirm the question and chemists have shown that it is possible .
Researchers have demonstrate that is possible to use solar energy, paired with the right catalyst, to convert carbon dioxide into a raw material for making a wide range of products, including gasoline and plastics.
They demonstrated that light absorbed and converted into electricity by a silicon electrode can help drive a reaction that converts carbon dioxide into carbon monoxide and oxygen. Carbon monoxide is a valuable commodity chemical that is widely used to make plastics and other products. It is also a key ingredient in a process for making synthetic fuels, including syn gas , methanol, and gasoline.
I am very happy because this experiment was a success, and environment research grow up in every year.

Solar Panels With Less Silicon Made by Solaria

The first reason why more companies and world is not taking up solar energy as rapidly is because the installation cost too much to take.First company who come up with a finished product, which has a lot less Silicon than normal, is Solaria.
Solaria’s solar panels are thin strips of silicon spaced apart on molded plastic, together with some other extra materials. The plastic visible in between the strips can collect light and funnel it onto the silicon to produce energy.
These solar panels can generate 90 percent of the power traditional solar panels can. Despite being less efficient, Solaria’s panels, in time, could be 10 to 30 percent cheaper than their competitors’ products.
Subsequent improvements on the panels are also possible, such as placing thicker wires in between silicon strips for more efficient energy collection. The first Solaria panels have already started shipping to select customers.

When the initial run is completed, the rest of us might be seeing this new solar panel design quite soon.
With this success we can become more green because they give this possibility to all people, and i think that in the future this silicon will be more less.

Make Hydrogen Gas in Distilled Water(video)

In this video researchers show how electrolysis cell is making hydrogen gas in distilled water, with no electrolyte. This experiment is supposed to be impossible, but they demonstrate that it work. With this experiment you can make vehicles to run with water.
I want to tell you that i make this experiment at home but I exploded a glas bottle,
luckily I was behind a safety wall ,and in conclusion please never do this in a glas bottle
for safety reasons.Only use plastic bootles! Here is the video:

Make a Wind Powered LED From Your Old VCR

This is probably one of the most fun project. The device combine the renewable energy of the wind with the amazingly efficient and modern LEDs to make sure that you get spectacularly good lighting. They want to not only replace traditional lighting devices, but also to take power saving lighting systems to the next level.

Now we take this revolutionary technology and combine it with the power of the wind to make a Wind Powered LED that is going to light up your day and also your more dreary nights. Making this is simple and also loads of fun.

It also shows that we are ready to rip open our old VCRs with the way technology is progressing. In fact, I bet it would be hard to even find one today. That is exactly why you can even use an old broken CD player or an old and broken system.

Three Wheeled Electric Motorcycle

The design in itself makes the e-snake look very rugged and this cannot be said of too many other electric vehicles which look flimsy in the least. This ruggedness endows the e-snake a weight of about 350 pounds, considerable for an electric vehicle. But this E-snake trike concept has plenty of punch in its wheels.
The e-snake is all metal with an exposed frame making it look more like a step up from a bicycle. Though the all metal frame bodied e-snake is not a contender for any trike-beauty contest, we wouldn’t go far enough to call it ugly.

This motor running on lithium ion batteries and motivated by dual rear in-hub electric motors, the University of Padova has created the e-Snake electric tilting three-wheeler. The vehicle was entered into the Formula Electric and Hybrid Italy 2007 student competition, where it won awards for acceleration and speed, reaching 31 miles per hour. The e-Snake is capable of traveling 62 miles per charge (that's 100 kilometers for you metric types). Despite looking rather small, the machine reportedly weighs a not-insignificant 357 pounds, about as much as a beginner-friendly motorcycle.

A Gateway For Solar Panels

The Xantrex Gateway is designed to monitor the amount of electricity that solar panels generate and transmits that information to a person's PC through a home Wi-Fi connection.
Monitoring equipment is commonly used for large-scale installations at corporations or power plants. This gateway is designed specifically for people’s homes or small-scale solar power installations.
Xantrex built a Yahoo widget that can log system performance on a PC directly from the Gateway and display information graphically.
This device also can be configured from a Web page to make automated e-mail reports.

Get Power in The Middle of Nowhere

The 1 ton device has a host of solar panels, three to be precise, each generating 200 watts of power each. The generated power is stored onto the powercube’s 6, 200amp-hr batteries to give you power when you need it the most. Perfect for the NatGeo and Discovery channel crews. To make it that bit more rugged to take on tough conditions, the powercube is waterproof and with a considerable weight of 1 ton, I don’t see too many other problems that the powercube will have to face. To give it that take-anywhere capability, it can work both on and off the grid. The powercube doesn’t make any noise, nor heat up the environment, and even doesn’t emit anything, thus making it a very eco-friendly device, not that it wasn’t one in the first place.

Another plus about the PowerCube is that when people are given a fixed amount of anything (in this case electricity) they tend to pay attention to how they use it. Focusing on needs vs. wants, this creates an important lesson in energy use, ie. I need to turn on the computer to do some work vs. I want to turn on the computer to see the Cubs score. Anytime we are made aware of our patterns of consumption we become more responsible consumers.
